I was awaken one night
By the cry of a thousand lost souls
I pulled on my cloak and went to the banks of the river
I saw a man in a black cloak playing a gold flute
He told me the song was the cries of a thousand lost souls
"Why did I hear it? Am I dead?"
He laughed then I knew my answer
I had died.
He had come to take me to his prison.
I ran back to my haven and it hid in its confines.
He will come for me sooner or later.
I fear him and he knows it.
TO MY PRISON
I awoke in a dark cell of flames
I see the man who told me of my fate
He had taken me to my cage
and threw me into his pit
I watched him leave me there to suffer
I cried out, asking him when would I be free.
"When the cry of freedom and life are heard by the Keeper."
Every day I listened for that cry.
FREEDOM
One early spring morning
We heard an unfamiliar cry
I knew then that we were free
I went back to my haven
and
Saw that everything was still alive
I looked around and nothing had changed
Every night I dream of that prison
I weep for those who did not escape it.
I can hear them crying but
I fear going back
I know I must go back
one day
