Real or Not

Storm clouds rage!
Thunder claps and echo!
Lightening flashing
She watches from the hill
As rain beats down upon her.

The house at the foot of the hill
It beckoned her to it
Houses breathe.  Houses speak!

“Chloe!” it screamed!
She could hear it over the storm.
On, downward the hill she ran.
Sliding down in the mud.

As she reached the house,
The door opened.
The only light being from a candle

She pulled her hood down, cloak to the floor.
Her hand on the hilt of her sword.
Her boots tracking mud across the wooden floor.

“Chloe!” it called.
Fire began to roar in the hearth.
She stepped back, blade drawn.

He appeared out of the flames.
7 feet tall, he towered over her small frame.
Her eyes widened as they travelled up to his face.

One fell swoop of his claw
Made her sword clatter to the ground
He sent her flying into the wall.

The impact rattled her.
Took her breath from her.
Her arms covered her, protecting her face as she hit the floor.

His footsteps close.
“Move!” she told herself
His foot came down onto her back.

Crack, crack went her ribs.
Screaming, her’s echoing off the walls.
He laughed as he stepped away.

Darkness
Firelight as she awoke in her bed
No pain.
No blood.

Was it real?
Was he real?
